Giant Snakes and Ladders

We have been busy with an interesting project designing and producing Giant Snakes and Ladders games and associated materials the for DUWC in Derbyshire & the IRC in Scotland.

The large floor banner is made up in sections that fit together with Velcro and it all comes as a kit in sturdy Zip up bags. 

All great fun and a novel way to highlight important issues.

DUWC’s financial inclusion Snakes and Ladders climbing out of poverty

game was launched in Shirebrook in April. The giant board game and

exhibition are designed to show how difficult it is to escape poverty and to

signpost people to the help they might need to achieve their potential.

Local MPs Natascha Engel and Dennis Skinner played the very first round on the brand new

game board. Local volunteers Michelle Askew and Allison Hallam acted as their counters.

Natascha Engel eventually won the game after a match beset with trips down the snakes. She

commented afterwards:

“This shows just how difficult it is to climb your way out of poverty—just when you think you’re on

your way up, you hit the buffers and slide back down. Anyone facing these issues needs to be so

resilient.”
